Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has announced the approval of automatic scholarships for the best graduating students from the state’s four universities, as part of his administration’s commitment to promoting academic excellence and empowering youth development.
The initiative was unveiled by the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board, with Executive Secretary Dr. Godfrey Enita highlighting that this step reflects the Governor’s dedication to the M.O.R.E. Agenda, particularly focusing on human capital development.
The automatic scholarship scheme will be awarded to the Best Graduating Student from each academic session at the following state-owned institutions: Delta State University in Abraka, Southern Delta University in Ozoro, University of Delta in Agbor, and Dennis Osadebay University in Asaba.
Dr. Enita stated that recipients of the scholarship will receive full funding to pursue Master’s and Ph.D. programs at recognized Nigerian universities.
He emphasized that awardees must complete the standard scholarship procedures and documentation to access their funding.
This initiative aims to develop a highly skilled and globally competitive youth population that can significantly contribute to the long-term growth of Delta State.
“The Board is committed to creating opportunities that elevate our students and promote academic excellence,” Dr. Enita assured.
The new scholarship policy is anticipated to encourage undergraduates across state-owned institutions to strive for academic distinction, positioning Delta State as a leading center for educational advancement in Nigeria.
