….. Declares Defections ‘A Mere Distraction’ at Erhuemukohwarien
In a bold and unified show of strength, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ughelli North held a landmark stakeholders’ meeting in Erhuemukohwarien Town Hall, reaffirming its dominance and commitment to grassroots politics.
Led by the Acting Chairman, Hon. Daniel Emaye, the gathering sent a resounding message that PDP remains unshaken, focused and ready for 2027.
Addressing party faithful, Hon. Emaye called for intensified grassroots mobilization, urging ward chairmen and members to route concerns through the Local Government Executive for swift resolution.
“We are stronger together. No obstacle can deter a united PDP,” he said.
Ward chairmen presented glowing updates from their units, pledging to strengthen party structures and deepen outreach.
Also speaking was Amb. Richard Aduvie, who recently disengaged from the Oborevwori-led administration. He dismissed recent defections as “a pure distraction from the pit of hell.”
He criticized those chasing “selfish gains” in the APC, predicting they would soon return disillusioned.
“The APC has nothing to offer Delta State. What we offer is people-focused leadership and continuity,” he said.
Former PDP LGA Chairman, Pastor Kesiena Nomuoja, described the defection wave as a “watery tsunami without foundation.” He reaffirmed his loyalty, declaring:
“I cannot abandon the PDP. The values we uphold, equity, justice and progress are worth defending.”
Other key party leaders, including Olorogun Amb. Scott Udu, Comr. Alex Akporute and Mrs. Rita Agba, echoed similar sentiments. Udu assured members that victory was certain, while Akporute and Agba emphasized pride in standing firm with the party.
Speaking to newsmen, PDP chieftain Hon. Oke Umurhohwo, a major force behind the party’s resurgence in Delta Central, remarked:“This gathering reinforces our unity and purpose. The PDP in Ughelli North remains solid and focused on delivering for our people. What we are witnessing is not a breakdown but a breakthrough. A reset moment for the PDP in Delta State. The defections may have grabbed headlines, but they have also cleared the path for genuine party loyalists to rise and rebuild. We are not deterred. If anything, we are more focused, more united and more determined to reconnect with our people at the grassroots.
Speaking further, he said “Today’s meeting in Erhuemukohwarien reaffirms the belief that we are laying the foundation for something much bigger, a movement powered by the people, for the people and accountable to the people. The road to 2027 begins now, and we’re taking it one community, one ward, one believer at a time”
In a symbolic moment during the event, the party welcomed a new wave of decampees from the APC. Hon. Emaye received them warmly, calling the PDP “the only winning party in Delta State.”
Notably, several Executive Assistants, Senior Special Assistants, and Special Assistants to the Governor also resigned their appointments, pledging renewed allegiance to the PDP, a move widely seen as courageous and principled.
As preparations for the 2027 general elections build momentum, the Erhuemukohwarien meeting stands as a pivotal moment in PDP’s political recalibration in Delta State.
With unity, grassroots energy and credible leadership, the party is charting a clear path forward.
