The Ovie of Uvwie ,HRM Dr Emmanuel Sideso JP,OON has commended the chairman of Uvwie local government,Chief Anthony Ofoni for executing Ugboroke Modern Market, Warehouse and Abattoir.
The Uvwie Monarch made the commendation during the official inauguration of the market .
While describing the Uvwie Council chairman,Chief Anthony Ofoni as a performing chairman
Abe I, appealed to the traders to maintain the market.
For his part the commissioner for local government and Chieftaincy Affairs,Prince Kelly Penawou described the Market executed by the Uvwie council chairman Chief Anthony Ofoni as a People’s orientated and meaningful project .
He disclosed that the state Governor,Rt hon Sheriff Oborevwori is happy with the council chairman as the projects he has embarked on are in line with his MORE Agenda .
Earlier the Uvwie local government chairman,Chief Anthony Ofoni in his speech stated that two weeks ago the council inaugurated Ekpan modern market,noting that with the support of the speaker of Delta State House of Assembly Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor where they empowered the traders with cash gifts to enable them boost their business.
Chief Ofoni noted that the market is the first of its kind in Ugboroke and a break through project and answer to the prayers of many people from the community.
Chief Anthony Ofoni disclosed that the market has a total number of 44 stores, 2 spacious Warehouses and well-constructed abattoir with all the necessary facilities in place for the comfort of the traders.

” I have
come to serve my people and to make every Community feel the presence of Government. My earnest desire is to strongly align with the M.O.RE. agenda of our pragmatic Governor, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori (JP), whose development success story has won him the BEST Governor in Nigeria. We are indeed proud of him and as a very keen disciple of our Governor, I am determined, with your support and cooperation, to break record by focusing on meaningful development projects that will impact directly on the lives of the people.
“From the onset of this administration, we have set our eyes on meeting the needs of the electorates who gave us their mandate by embarking on projects that are focused on the peculiar needs of each Community; hence, we have provided a transformer for Ohore 1 Community. We have tackled the heavy traffic at Effurun Market by constructing the perimeter fence, thereby, fencing out the trading activities from the road. In the area of Environment, there is a fresh breathe of clean air as the major roads in Uvwie are enjoying the attention of over 150 women who have been engaged by this administration to clean the roads every morning. The issue of indiscriminate dumping of waste has also reduced greatly as we are doing all in our power to manage the waste effectively.
Knowing the importance of health in every Society, we are working in great synergy with the Primary Health Department to ensure that all Health programmes directed by the State are executed effectively in Uvwie Local Government Area.
Furthermore, Sir, I wish to announce that the work at the Ultra Modern Cottage Hospital, Iteregbi is in top gear and in few months time, we shall be inviting you for the commissioning.
This administration thrives on excellence, hence, during our 100 days in office, we gave scholarship to well-deserving pupils at Alegbo Primary School and also cash gifts to exceptional teachers. As a lover of education, we launched our Ofoni Cares Welcome Back to School Programme where over 500 pupils across the 26 Public Primary Schools were given educational support materials.
Also in fulfillment of our promise to meet up with the desires of our people, this administration has repaired failed portions of some of our roads along Jakpa, PTI, GRA and others that were in very bad shape. We have lit up some Streets by providing solar street lights. In consideration of the importance of the Council’s workforce and determination to maintain a very cordial relationship with the workers, we have provided a brand new big Sienna Bus for Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE). We are reaching out to every segment of the Society. During the Yuletide, we gave out cash gifts and food items to the needy, old people, persons with disabilities and widows. By the help of God, I am very hopeful, that we shall embark on more projects in different communities across Uvwie Local Government Area.
