UBULU-UKU– The Executive Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government Council,Hon. Pastor Jude Chukwunwike, has underscored the importance of value-based education in achieving sustainable crime reduction as schools resumed for the academic year.
During a school resumption engagement in Ubulu-Uku, Chukwunwike urged teachers and parents to adopt modern disciplinary models that focus on character formation, civic responsibility, and moral instruction. He stated that education serves as the foundation for building a peaceful, inclusive, and productive society.
“Teachers are pivotal in bridging the gap between pupils and their future aspirations,” Chukwunwike remarked. He emphasized that consistent inculcation of positive values and a supportive learning environment would inspire students and significantly decrease crime rates in the community.

Highlighting the need for collaboration between local government and educators, Chukwunwike reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing learning conditions in public schools. His administration has prioritized education through targeted initiatives aimed at improving school infrastructure and teacher welfare, which he described as essential investments in human capital and long-term social stability.
Chukwunwike further aligned his vision with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly on quality education, decent work, and peace. He highlighted that value-based education is crucial for sustainable development at the grassroots level.
Citing UNESCO’s advocacy for holistic education, he called on head teachers to comply with established teaching standards and the Universal Basic Education curriculum, emphasizing that quality instruction and ongoing professional development are vital for educational excellence.
“Incorporating values, discipline, and opportunities in education is the best way to nurture responsible citizens and secure a sustainable future for Aniocha South and our society,” he concluded.
