The Aniocha South Local Government Council Chairman, Hon Pastor Jude Chukwunwike has commended the gallantry of security agencies in foiling a series of church burglaries in Ogwashi-Uku and surrounding communities.
Pastor Chukwunwike hailed the security agencies’ efforts, attributing the breakthroughs to strategic investments in local security which include the provision of motorcycles for enhanced patrols, continuous training and retraining of the reformed vigilante group, and the deployment of more tactical resources across the council area.
The Council Chairman recalled that only a few months ago, Ogwashi-Uku and its environs were under siege by these same criminals, causing sleepless nights and widespread fear among residents. He expressed delight that with sustained synergy among security agencies, peace and normalcy are gradually returning to the communities.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to eradicating criminality in the area and appealed to residents to remain vigilant and provide law enforcement agencies with credible intelligence to aid ongoing operations.
The suspects, who stole musical instruments and other valuables, were apprehended through a coordinated operation involving the Police, Department of State Services (DSS), and the local Vigilante Group.
Items recovered from the suspects included a Toyota Sienna vehicle, a motorcycle, musical instruments, a generator, a refrigerator, and other exhibits linked to their criminal operations.
