In preparation for the upcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Bomadi Local Government Council in Delta State launched a significant sanitation exercise over the weekend.
Ad-hoc workers and local youths were mobilized to tackle overgrown weeds and remove waste and debris in strategic locations throughout the Bomadi metropolis.
Mrs. Dirimo-ere Talbort, Head of the Environment Department at the Bomadi Council Secretariat, alongside Hon. Vincent Eregbene, Senior Special Assistant on Environment to the Executive Chairman, supervised the extensive clean-up initiative, ensuring a coordinated effort with local security agents.
During the exercise, Talbort addressed market women and youths, coinciding with Bomadi market day, and declared it a sanitation day.

She emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness as a daily habit and urged vendors to properly dispose of waste, particularly at the close of market hours. “Just as you take care of your homes, the same is expected in the marketplace.
A clean environment will attract more customers,” she advised.
Hon. Eregbene expressed gratitude toward his boss, Hon. Dagidi Rawlings Andaye, for allocating resources to the clean-up efforts in both Bomadi and Kpakiama.
He announced that the sanitation initiative would be an ongoing effort and affirmed that the decorations for Christmas would give Bomadi a fresh look for the holiday season.
Eregbene encouraged the Bomadi Federated Community’s executives to actively engage more youth in future sanitation activities, noting that the current involvement was insufficient. “Greater youth participation will lead to better results,” he stated.
The initiative reflects the Council’s commitment to fostering a cleaner and more welcoming environment for residents and visitors during the festive season.
