In a decisive move to curb the rising wave of insecurity across Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, its four council chairmen have resolved to intensify joint efforts and enhance inter-council collaboration for effective security management.
At a strategic security meeting, held earlier today in Asaba and hosted by the Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Kelvin Obi Ezenyili, key stakeholders, including his counterparts, Hon. Pastor Jude Chukwunwike of Aniocha South (represented by the Supervisory Councillor for Environment, Hon. Chika Kelly Edozie), Hon. Innocent Esewezie of Oshimili North, and Hon. Emma Bazim Chinye of Aniocha North (represented) deliberated over the issue.
Declaring the meeting open, Dr. Ezenyili noted that the collaboration had became necessary following increasing concerns raised by residents over incidents of kidnapping, armed robbery, cult clashes, and other criminal activities across the four councils in the constituency. He emphasized that only through sustained collaboration, intelligence sharing, and community partnership could the challenges be effectively tackled.
Speaking in the same vein, the other council chairmen reaffirmed their shared commitment to adopt a collective, intelligence-driven, and community-centered approach to security management. They underscored the need for real-time information flow, mutual trust among security agencies, and stronger engagement with traditional rulers and youth groups to restore public confidence and guarantee safety across communities.
Responding on behalf of the forum of Presidents General of town unions in the constituency, Dr. Ignatius Ezoem commended the chairmen for the initiative as it demonstrates unity of purpose in addressing the security concerns of their people. He assured that the forum would work closely with the councils to strengthen local intelligence networks and community vigilance efforts.
At the end of the meeting, all the parties reaffirmed their collective resolve to build a robust intelligence-sharing framework and intensify joint patrols, surveillance, and sensitization campaigns to deter criminal elements and sustain peace across the federal constituency.
Attendees parted with a unanimous call for continuous inter-council coordination and citizen participation as key instruments in the ongoing war against insecurity.
