In his inaugural address, Hon. Chukwunwike urged members of the taskforce to see their appointments as a call to selfless service, not an opportunity for personal enrichment.
He charged them to uphold the law, conduct themselves with dignity, and serve with integrity.
“You must be diligent, law-abiding, and resist any form of touting or behavior that could disrupt public peace or undermine the objectives of this initiative,” the chairman declared. “Remember that your actions—whether commendable or not will reflect not just on you, but on the name of this council. Carry out your duties with professionalism and a strong sense of responsibility.”
Hon. Chukwunwike emphasized that the taskforce has been mandated to address pressing issues such as the proliferation of illegal structures, environmental hazards, traffic congestion/ illegal parking, and unregulated traditional medical practices that pose risks to public health and safety.
He particularly highlighted the growing concern over scavengers and unlicensed practitioners, calling for urgent regulation and community cooperation.
He appealed to residents to support the initiative through compliance and civic responsibility, noting that a safer, cleaner, and more organized Aniocha South is a collective goal.
“We must work together to create a cleaner, safer, and more livable haven for all residents and future generations,” he added.
Speaking on behalf of the taskforce members, Mr. Francis Mogekwu, who was appointed Chairman of the committee, expressed gratitude to the council chairman for the trust reposed in them.
He assured the public of their commitment to carrying out their duties with fairness, professionalism, and accountability.
“This is a delicate assignment, and we understand the gravity of the responsibility,” Mogekwu stated. “We pledge to carry it out diligently, with respect for the diverse backgrounds of our people, and without bringing disrepute to the council or its leadership.”
