Chukwunwike Leads Charge Against Burglary, As Afor Market Secures a Safer Future

In a bold and proactive move to safeguard the lives and livelihoods of traders in Afor Market, Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government council under the visionary leadership of Hon. (Pastor ) Jude Chukwunwike, has commenced the installation of security gates at major entry and exit points of the market.

This decisive intervention follows persistent complaints from traders over the alarming rise in cases of burglary and unauthorized nocturnal activity within the market.

Determined to address these concerns head-on, the council has initiated the erection of iron-clad gates aimed at preventing unlawful access, particularly at night.

“This effort is not just about protecting property; it’s about protecting the dreams and investments of our people,” Hon. Chukwunwike remarked. “Security is the foundation of progress, and we will not relent until Afor Market becomes a safe haven for commerce and enterprise.”

The newly installed gates are strategically positioned at vulnerable points previously exploited by miscreants. The measure is expected to foster a safer environment, instill confidence among traders, enhance environmental awareness and promote uninterrupted commercial activity.

Looking ahead, the council is considering the installation of CCTV cameras and digital surveillance systems as part of a broader security upgrade. These technological enhancements will work in tandem with local vigilantes to establish a comprehensive security network within the market.

This initiative reflects Hon. Chukwunwike’s consolidatory agenda—one focused on sustainable commerce, enhanced revenue generation, and reinvestment in grassroots development. A secure market fosters business growth, boosts internally generated revenue (IGR), and lays the groundwork for enduring community advancement.

Community leaders, market stakeholders, and residents are encouraged to support this initiative by safeguarding public assets and collaborating with authorities to ensure the continued safety of the marketplace.

Ultimately, the Afor Market security enhancement is not merely an infrastructure project—it is a symbol of responsive and visionary governance.

With every gate installed and every surveillance effort deployed, Ogwashi-Uku takes another confident step toward a future defined by safety, progress, and shared prosperity.
