The Executive Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government council, Hon. Pastor Jude Chukwunwike , has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening public health and improving environmental conditions across the council.
This resolve came with a firm pledge to upgrade the meat section of the bustling Nkwor Market in Nsukwa into a modern and hygienic facility.
During an inspection tour of landmark projects across Nsukwa clan, Pastor Chukwunwike, moved by the poor accommodation and inadequate facilities faced by meat traders, disclosed that plans were already underway for the construction of a well structured, sanitary and standard compliant section that meets contemporary market expectations. He noted that the current shanty style stalls and makeshift structures were no longer suitable for the volume of trade and the public health risks they pose.

According to him, decongesting the area was both necessary and urgent.
Chukwunwike expressed satisfaction with the quality of work previously delivered by the contractor who handled the Nsukwa market project, describing the earlier criticisms and resistance from certain interest groups as “purely political.”
“As a government, we remain focused on delivering projects that translate into meaningful and lasting improvements for our people,” he said. “We are determined to leave behind legacies that positively touch every community in Aniocha South.”
The chairman further explained that the planned intervention goes beyond providing a facelift for the market. He said it was part of a broader effort to cultivate a culture that enhances economic growth, recognising the central role markets play in revenue generation and community life. He stressed that hygiene remains a critical factor in safeguarding public health, especially in food related sections such as meat stalls.
As an administration that prioritizes sanitation and structural upgrades, Hon. Chukwunwike is not only addressing an immediate need but also setting a higher standard for market infrastructure across Delta State. His consistent commitment to development, despite political distractions, continues to reflect a leadership style rooted in service delivery, accountability and long term impact.
