Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing access to quality education for all Deltans through strategic partnerships with the private education sector.
This commitment was highlighted during a recent visit to Delta Central Polytechnic, where new state-of-the-art facilities were inaugurated.
The familiarization tour, led by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Nyerowho Tonukari, showcased the institution’s significant developments, including its computer laboratory and health information management laboratory.
Prof. Tonukari praised Delta Central Polytechnic as an emerging force poised to transform the educational landscape, particularly in the Ughelli metropolis.
Accompanying the Commissioner were directors and the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, who engaged with the campus leadership, including the Rector, Mr. Anthony Okagbare, an engineer.
Prof. Tonukari lauded the Polytechnic for its robust infrastructure, increasing student enrollment, and the quality of its teaching staff.
He emphasized the state government’s dedication to making education accessible, as outlined in the Governor’s MORE Agenda, and declared the institution the best privately owned Polytechnic in Delta State.
The Commissioner urged host communities to continue their support for the Polytechnic, which he described as crucial for enhancing educational opportunities in the region.
In his address, Rector Okagbare thanked the Commissioner for the visit and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to equipping students with the necessary skills for future success.
He noted successful partnerships with various research and entrepreneurial institutions, which enhance students’ competitiveness both locally and globally.
Mr. David Jodome, the Polytechnic’s registrar, expressed the school’s mission to provide educational opportunities for those who may have missed out previously, debunking the misconception that education is a scam.
A highlight of the tour was the official commissioning of the new health information management laboratory and computer laboratory.
Delta Central Polytechnic is located in Ekiugbo, Ughelli North Local Government Area, and is positioned to play a critical role in advancing educational access and quality in Delta State.
