The Executive Assistant to the Delta state Governor on Oil and Gas Chief Akpovire Edafevwotu has commended the efforts of a local security surveillance outfit, Tantita Security Services for Tackling Crude Oil Theft in the Niger Delta Region.
Chief Edafevwotu made the commendation on Tuesday while reacting to the provision of officers and soldiers Transit accommodation to the Nigerian Army 3 Battalion Effurun, constructed by Tantita Security Services .
Chief Edafevwotu thanked Tantita for complementing the Nigerian Army’s efforts in providing welfare to the officers and soldiers.
Fight Against Crude Oil Theft
Chief Edafevwotu noted that there could have been no better single individual or entity to tackle the oil menace like the former Niger Delta agitator, Government Ekpemupolo otherwise known as Tompolo and his company, Tantita.
He added that the criminal activities of the oil thieves have not only harmed the environment and local communities but also cost the country billions of dollars in lost revenue.
The Executive Assistant to Delta State Governor on Oil and Gas stressed that Tantita is tackling the scourge of illegal oil bunkering through an inclusive strategy aimed at not only halting the illegal activity but also engaging those involved on the need to stop their nefarious activities.
Chief Edafevwotu stressed that since the engagement of Tantita Security Services to safeguard the critical oil installations, the situation has dramatically improved.
” Our oil output has now increased to 1.5 million barrels per day, as recently reported by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC)” he added .
Chief Edafevwotu stated that the engagement of Tantita Pipeline Security and Surveillance Company has led to a significant drop in the crime rate in the region, as it has provided employment opportunities for many youths.
