The effort focused on enhancing the aesthetic appeal of surroundings and removing refuse dumps across various sites in the council. Hon. Ms. Patricia Adolue, representing the council chairman, emphasized the vital importance of maintaining a clean environment, highlighting its crucial role in preventing disease outbreaks and reducing healthcare costs.

Stressing the need for collective responsibility, Pastor Chukwunwike encouraged traders, particularly those in the Ogwashi-uku Afor Abbatoire section of the market, to support the council’s efforts in fostering a sustainable environmental culture.

The secretary to the local government, Hon. Prince Tony Ebube, and the supervisor for environment, Hon. Chika Kelly, echoed the chairman’s sentiments, advocating for a collaborative approach to environmental upkeep.

The council boss’s dedication to enhancing the environmental and aesthetic status of the council area has earned widespread acclaim. During the sanitation exercise, Hon. Leonard Nzemeke, leader of the legislative arm, and other councilors played an active role in supervision, alongside the mobile court magistrate.

Other participants, including the Red Cross, O/C revenue , Chief Ndubuisi Ekwenuya (Wantilo),vigilante groups, and environmental personnel led by Mrs Roselyn Igbodoh, worked together seamlessly to ensure the exercise’s success.
