Field information chapel holds seminar on public speaking

As part of effort in training and retraining officers in the civil service, the Delta State Field information Chapel under the delta state ministry of information organized a one day seminar with the theme “art of public speaking /event moderation”.

The seminar took place at the governor’s office annex warri during a congress of the field information chapel of the Nigeria union of journalists (NUJ)

The resource person, Mrs Joy Tobele the executive director, initiative for peace and stability, lectured the officers on what it entails to be a master of public speaking and how to persuade and to manage an audience on different occasions.

The resource personnel defined public speaking as the organized face to face, intentional attempt to inform, to entertain or persuade a group of people through words, physical delivery and at times visual or audio aid.

Tobele mentioned the five elements that makes up speaking styles in public to includes volume, speed, engagement, performance and variation.

The chairman of field information chapel of the Nigeria union of journalists (NUJ) comrade Charles Ojefia thanked the resource person, Mrs Joy Tobele for increasing the knowledge of the officers on public speaking .

Comrade Ojefia thanked the commissioner for information Dr Michael Osuaza for his support and encouragement to field officers and assured him that they would continue to do their best to inform the public of Delta State Government programmes and policies.

The field chapel officers who were so overwhelmed and satisfied with the lecture applauded the chapel chairman Mr Charles Ojefia and his executives for the laudable initiative.

Speaking on behalf of the field officers, Mrs Obanyedo Ebiakpo , PEO warri south west, thanked the field chapel chairman and his EXCO for organizing the seminar.

While applauding the resource person for the lecture, Mrs Ebiakpo noted that the initiative was first of its kind and would helped in building the capacity of the field officers as public enlightenment officers.
