An Effurun Uvwie Local Government Area based legal luminary and opinion leader, Chief Andi Kayoma Osawota has listed issues that should be addressed for Nigerians to achieve the essence of the celebration of June 12 .
Osawota who bears the exalted title of the Ogba ( strong man) of Orogun Kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government Area, spoke to our correspondent in an exclusive media chat on Thursday June 12th , 2025 .
He listed the petroleum industry as the foremost issue that should be addressed when talking about June 12, since according to him, the petroleum industry is the main stay of Nigeria’s economy.
Osawota who is also an author and publisher of several books and journals , called for restitution of all the moribund ports in the country as he noted that ports are the only means of exporting petroleum products universally and that they could also be useful in the exportation of Nigerian goods
The other issue he high lighted in order of priority, is agriculture, as he asserted that agriculture will be a diversification from the petroleum dependent economy and that subsistence farming will be beneficial to both the rich and poor.
The prevailing insecurity in Nigeria , was the fourth issue he expressed deep concern about, as he reasoned that terrorism and menaces of Fulani herdsmen and kidnappers pose serious challenges to the solutions to all the issues he earlier highlighted.
Osawota had earlier praised the Late Chief M . K .O Abiola who he said was a symbol for the actualization of democracy in Nigeria as he maintained that the worse civilian government is far better than the best military government.
