The people of Kiagbodo and neighbouring Bikoroba communities have reaffirmed their support for the administrations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, pledging continued loyalty in anticipation of more developmental projects in the area.

The pledge was made during an end-of-year and Christmas party held in Kiagbodo, hosted by the Delta State Commissioner for Riverine Infrastructure Development, Chief Ebikeme Clark.

The event attracted residents from Ward 8, Kiagbodo, who thronged the traditional ground of the Ngbilebiri-Mein people in a colourful display of joy and celebration to welcome the commissioner.

Speaking at the gathering, Chief Clark urged the people to sustain their support for both the federal and state governments, noting that development thrives in communities that align with government policies and programmes.

He said Governor Oborevwori, in less than two years in office, has executed numerous projects across Delta State, including the ongoing construction of the Kiagbodo Technical College, renovation of primary and secondary schools, provision of desks, tables, chairs and award of contract of radial roads all within the ward.

According to him, the state government is also committed to ensuring the completion of critical infrastructure such as the Ayakoroma Bridge, which he described as vital to boosting connectivity and economic activities in the area.

He further called on all eligible residents to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise to enable them participate actively in the democratic process.

As part of the Christmas celebration, the commissioner presented four cows to the four quarters of Kiagbodo community and one cow to Bikoroba community, a gesture that was received with appreciation and applause.

He explained that although the president and governor could not be physically present in every community, such gestures were meant to convey their goodwill and solidarity with the people.

In a seminar held at the event, themed “Season of Celebration of Peace,” the Pastor-in-Charge of IOC’s CJ Chapel of Grace Area, Pastor Joy Ayanho, described the birth of Christ as a season of love and giving.

She commended Chief Clark for his generosity, noting that the initiative brought smiles to the faces of widows, the elderly and other vulnerable members of the community.

Several community leaders also spoke at the event, including the APC Chairman of Ward 8, Chief Julius Asiru; representatives of the Elders Forum of Kiagbodo community; and the chairman of the community, represented by the assistant secretary.

They praised Chief Clark for what they described as effective representation and pledged continued support for the APC-led administrations of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori.

Some widows who benefited from the gesture expressed gratitude, saying the celebration had brought relief and joy, especially at a time when many families were struggling.

A major highlight of the end-of-year party was the presentation of bags of Christmas rice to widows, elderly women and children by the wife of the commissioner, Mrs. Sandra Ebikeme Clark, further adding colour and warmth to the festive celebration.
