Delta State – In a significant move to improve urban infrastructure and economic activities, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has announced plans to reconstruct the ECN Road.
This initiative aims to address the longstanding complaints regarding the road’s deteriorating condition, which has caused daily hardships for residents, commuters, and businesses along the route.
Governor Oborevwori made the announcement during the 50th and 19th memorial celebration of late Chief and Madam Palama Akporhierayen in Udu Local Government Area.
He emphasized that the reconstruction project will adhere to high standards and be completed within a defined timeframe, in line with his administration’s MORE Agenda that prioritizes quality infrastructure as essential to enhancing security, commerce, and the overall quality of life for citizens.
Reflecting on recent accomplishments, the governor noted the impending inauguration of the Udu Harbour Market, a project that has been in the pipeline for nearly two decades.
Urging political office holders and community leaders to adopt servant leadership principles, Oborevwori stated, “No leader is above the people they serve,” highlighting the importance of humility and accountability in governance.
He commended Sir Sheba Palama for honoring his parents during the memorial, recognizing it as a noble gesture that underscores the significance of family values and legacy. “When you have children who remember you, your legacy lives on,” he noted.
The governor also stressed the necessity of unity among the people of Udu for sustainable development, stating, “Development can only happen when there is unity. I will do my best to do whatever the Udu people want, but unity is key.”
Concluding his remarks, he expressed gratitude to traditional rulers and community leaders for their warm reception, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and grassroots development across Delta State.
