Communication Strategist and Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has appealed to all contestants for various positions in the State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, to be peaceful and law-abiding, as eligible members of the union cast their votes on Wednesday October 18, to elect Chairman and other executive members.

He made the appeal in statement on Tuesday, and made available to newsmen in Asaba, nothing that all the contestants for the office of State Chapter Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary and other positions are practicing Journalists with impeachable character, wealth of experience and great unionists who will add inestimable value to the advancement of the union in the state.

Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe

Oghenesivbe, who was Executive Assistant on Communications to Delta State Governor under Okowa administration, reminded the contestants that in union politics and elections, all contestants cannot be winners, and as such, those who could not make it at the end of the electioneering exercise tomorrow, should humbly accept the outcome of the results, and congratulate the winners in true spirit of sportsmanship.

“It’s exciting that members of the state chapter of NUJ are set for yet another round of elections, to elect a new State Chairman, Secretary and other Exco members.

“Some of the contestants, if not all, are well known to me, and I have worked closely with majority of the union members spanning over two decades. It is therefore, a thing of joy for me that some of you are vying for key positions in this election. As friends and colleagues, I wish you all the best of luck.

“However, everybody cannot be winners, which is why both the winners and losers at the end of the electionering exercise, must of a necessity, embrace one another and join hands together to take the state chapter of the union to the next level.

“I wish all the contestants the best of luck, as you slog it out peacefully and joyfully at the polls, devoid of bitterness, blackmail and unhealthy scheming, Oghenesivbe said.
