A frontline Delta State All Progressive Congress (APC) chieftain, Chief Andi Kayoma Osawota who is an Effurun Uvwie Local Government based legal luminary has expressed great delight over the defection of Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori and other Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders to the APC .
Osawota who bears the exalted title of the Ogba ( the strong man ) of the ancient Urhobo Kingdom of Orogun in Ughelli North Local Government Area expressed his delight over the development in an exclusive media chat with our correspondent at his Effurun Uvwie Local Government Area last weekend.
Osawota who was just back from a visit to the United States of America ( USA ) stressed that the defection was a welcome development. ” I congratulate and welcome Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori to the APC .
” I hope it will be a very good journey for everybody in Delta State.
” There is no longer opposition in Delta State ; everybody will now work for the unity and collective goodness of our dear state. ” he added.
While talking about the APC leadership in the state as regards the defection, Osawota stated that ” I am a positive man . I do not foresee any negatism in his ( Governor Oborevwori) ‘ s defection.
” At this time of unity, it is not the time to talk about leadership.
” It is a straight jacket thing . He won his election as governor of Delta State. The leaders and founders of the APC know what to do.
“They will definitely work according to the will of the President for the betterment of party members ”
” We do not want to engender negative force at this time of unity; that will not be in the interest of the President.” he added.
Osawota who was a former Executive Secretary of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission ( DESOPADEC ) then urged APC members to be calm and happy about the development” now that PDP in Delta State has been absolved and swallowed by APC , there will be no opposition in the next election in the state.” he added.
