The Deputy General Manager of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and Airport Manager of Osubi International Airport, Mr. Winston Ifeacho Egwuatu, has reiterated the management’s dedication to providing quality service at affordable prices.
During a courtesy visit from the executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), DBS Warri Chapel, Mr. Egwuatu discussed the airport’s significant transformation since he took over management.
He pointed out that the airport was largely inactive at the time of his assumption, which compelled travelers from Warri, Uvwie, Ughelli, and surrounding areas to seek flights from other airports in Asaba, Benin, and Port Harcourt.
Following his takeover, Egwuatu and his management team engaged stakeholders to revitalize the airport, which has now become the fourth busiest in Nigeria, with over seven commercial airlines operating flights to various destinations.
He highlighted that the Osubi Airport currently offers some of the most affordable flight fares in the country, with the Warri to Lagos route priced at just ninety-five thousand naira for passengers booking a week in advance.
Mr. Egwuatu encouraged residents of Warri and nearby towns to utilize the airport’s smooth and safe flight services for convenient travel.
He also revealed plans to expand the airport’s runway to enhance operational efficiency and support the growth of airline businesses.“Our commitment to quality and affordability remains paramount as we support the needs of our travelers”he stated .
He expressed gratitude towards Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Olorogun Festus Keyamo, and other stakeholders for their support in optimizing the airport’s operations. Egwuatu commended Governor Oborevwori for ongoing state-wide development initiatives focused on improving the welfare of Deltans.
In response, NUJ DBS Warri Chapel Chairman Comrade John Glover praised the airport manager for the strides taken to reposition the airport and sought collaboration in the form of a solar power system to facilitate seamless news production at DBS Warri.
The meeting concluded with assurances of continued partnership between the Osubi Airport management and the NUJ DBS Warri Chapel to enhance service delivery in Delta State.
