The youth wing of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), FCT Chapter, has reaffirmed its dedication to uplifting the youth of the Niger Delta, including those incarcerated, during a heartfelt Christmas outreach at the Kuje Correctional Facility.
Leading the initiative, Comrade Embale Jonathan, the Youth Leader, alongside Deputy Youth Leader Amb. Ojineme Enakeme, Rt. Hon. Unyeowaji Patterson Gabriel (Media & Publicity Secretary), Chioma Atuzie (Organizing Secretary), and member Iboroma Dabo, emphasized that the Christmas season is a time for love, compassion, and renewal. They assured inmates from across Niger Delta states that they remain part of the PANDEF family and will not be forgotten.
The delegation delivered essential items, including food, toiletries, and other necessities for the inmates.
Beyond material support, the team conducted interactive sessions, offering encouragement and exploring legal assistance options for inmates with cases that could be resolved.

Inmates shared poignant testimonies during these sessions. One inmate from Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, who has spent 14 years in prison, shared his determination to pursue education while incarcerated, earning both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree, and authoring five books. His story exemplifies resilience and the transformative power of hope.
Other inmates voiced the challenges they face, including limited resources for vocational skill development, insufficient healthcare facilities, and difficulty accessing legal representation in the FCT.
One inmate expressed deep emotions as he recalled being forgotten by his community for 12 years until the PANDEF Youth Wing’s visit rekindled his spirits.
He noted that hearing from a Niger Delta-based organization brought him renewed strength and hope.
Jonathan encouraged the inmates, stating, “Prison is not the end of your story. True leadership embodies compassion and responsibility.” He aimed to inspire them to believe in themselves and prepare for a brighter future.
He urged the inmates to utilize their time constructively, focusing on reading, learning, and skill development for a successful reintegration into society. “Leadership is not just for those who are free,” he emphasized, “but for standing with every youth, regardless of their circumstances.”
