Rotary clubs in Warri, Effurun and its environs have marked World Polio Day with a walk through major streets to raise awareness on the severity of poliomyelitis and the need for vaccination of children between zero and five years.
Rotarians from 16 clubs under Rotary International District 9141 walked about 10 kilometers through Warri and Effurun to sensitize residents on polio vaccination

Past Assistant District Governor Rotarian Wilson Kokarhaye, Assistant District Governor zone 7,Rtn Kenneth Iyere , Assistant District Governor zone 6 Rtn Nicholas Otobor , Assistant District Governor zone 8,Rtn Franklin Oteh, Presidents Rotary Clubs of Effurun City center ,Warri Central and Osubi , Rotarians Igho Ighomore, Efetobore Tobrise and Malik Abubakar urge parents to get their children immunized against polio, emphasizing it’s a killer disease with no cure but can be prevented through vaccine.
Other Rotarians including Daniel Oji, Patrick Ighomore amongst others said October 24 is a day set aside to commemorate on the effort of Rotary in stamping out the disease from the surface of the Earth .
They noted that although Nigeria is among nations certified polio-free, but the fight continues until every nation is free.
