Rotarian Onobrorhie Clement Siakpere has been installed as the 39th President of Rotary Club of Effurun District 9141 in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State on 16th Saturday September, 2023 .
Speaking during the installation ceremony Rotarian Onobrorhie Clement Siakpere disclosed the code name of this year’s team of Rotary international, a humanitarian club, as : ‘ Create Hope In The World ‘ added that ” As Rotarians we have chosen to put our resources, time and talent to serve humanity.
” The Rotary club of Effurun therefore needs the support of friends and well wishers to be able to execute some projects that will create hope to the less privileged in our midst and help grow our communities. ” He stated .
He also informed that ” the Rotary Club of Effurun, Board of Directors, has
approved a number of projects for the 2023 /2024 .
While disclosing his star projects , the newly installed president of Rotary Club of Effurun District 9141 stated that the projects will cost over 25 million naira.
He listed the projects to include ;
1. Basic Education / Literacy ,
1.Rehabilitation of the RC Effurun vocational Training Centre
(VTC) at Ebrumede to become the hub for artisan training in various vocations for youths in Uvwie and its environs.
ii. Provision of books and writing materials to students in public
Schools.
2. Peace and Conflict Resolution
i. Promoting Peace – organize a peace and conflict resolution
summit for youths in our communities. “Peace they say is the soil where hope takes root”
3. Economic /community Development
i. Micro credit for indigent community women ,Sanitation
Provision of clean source of water for rural schools.
4. Disease /Prevention Treatment.
Oral hygiene Awareness in schools and health awareness campaign
(polio, hepatitis B, etc )
5. Maternal / Child Health
Provision of Hospital equipment.
He further appealed that ” My dear distinguished friends, guests, well-wishers and fellow Rotarians, your
generously giving towards the actualization of the project will be highly
appreciated.
” When we all join our hands together, the burden to create hope in the world becomes light.” He noted .
The Installation Committee Chairman of the club, Rotarian Florence Chukwuebuni who spoke earlier at the installation ceremony also appealed for financial assistance from Rotarians and guests to enable the new president of Rotary Club of Effurun execute projects lined up by the club for 2023/24 appreciation Year .
The 38th president of the club, Rotarian Godwin Oniyama had earlier in his speech, listed achievements of the club just as he thanked members for given him the opportunity to serve.
Rotarian Godwin Oniyama also urged members to give his successor the support they gave him to enable him improve on his achievements .
One of the high points of the event was the presentation of Paul Haris Fellow pins and certificates by the 38th president of Rotary Club Effurun, Rotarian Godwin Oniyama on behalf of Rotary foundation to members that donated generously toward Rotary foundation and the club .
The installation ceremony featured presentation of cheque to Beneficiaries of Micro credit loans, installation of New board members for the year 2023/2024
