Rotary Club Of Ekpan offers Free medical Check up,Collaborates with Nigerian Army

As Part of Activities marking Rotary Family Health Month, Rotary Club of Ekpan in collaboration with the Nigeria Army 3 Battalion,Effurun in Uvwie local Government Area of Delta State on Wednesday held health Talk and free medical check up for soldiers and civilians at the Army barrack.

The health Talk was centred on Prostate and Cervical cancer.

 

The President Rotary club of Ekpan Rotarian Osaro Igbinaduwa said the Health Talk was put together to enlighten soldiers , their wives and residents of the Nigerian Army 3 Battalion Barrack on the need to be aware of the symptoms and causes of Prostate and cervical cancer .

He noted that Rotary club of Ekpan would continue to partner with the military and other organisations to educate the people on the need for healthy living and prevention of diseases .

” We decided to bring the health talk and free check up to the Army Barrack because we know they need it more as they are always in the field protecting us ” he said .

Others who spoke including Past District Governor of Rotary club district 9141 Rotarian Ikponmwosa Ogiemudia and the chairman of Rotary club of Ekpan Rotarian Lawrence Uzochukwu noted that Prostate and cervical cancer are common with elderly men and women.

 

The guest speaker Past Assistant Governor , Rotarian Ikenna Ogbonna a medical Doctor said Cervical and Prostate cancer are treatable but not curable .

He advised men and women to ensure they undergo screening regularly as Prostate and cervical cancer can be treated when detected early and the patient would live longer .

” I want to inform you that Prostate and cervical Cancer when detected early can be treated so I beg you all to always go and do screening “he said.

Some of the participants at the event thanked Rotary club of Ekpan
for the gesture.

 

The event featured free blood Pressure and sugar level check up ,free medical counselling amongst others .
