Breaking: Uvwie Council Renames Airport Road To Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori Way

EFFURUN – The Uvwie Local Government Council has officially renamed the popular Airport Road in Effurun to Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori Way.

The unveiling of the new name and a commemorative statue was performed by the Council Chairman, Chief Anthony Ofoni, supported by the Chairman of the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, Chief Solomon Ighrakpata.

 

The council chairman Chief Anthony Ofoni disclosed that it was done constitutionally and by a wide consultation with the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom Abe the first and other leaders in the local government area.

Chief Ofoni stated that the Rt hon Sheriff Oborevwori way is in honour of the Delta state Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for his unprecedented leadership and infrastructural development across the state.

 

He added that the road was formerly named as airport road because of the presence of airport but the airport is no longer functioning so it was renamed to appreciate the Governor of the state for his impactful contributions to the development of Uvwie local government area
Chief Ofoni assured the state Governor Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori that the people of Uvwie local government would continue to support his MORE agenda so that more development would be attracted to the area .

He called on the people of Uvwie to reelect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori so that the area would experience more and better development.

 

 

Also speaking the chairman of Delta State Board of Internal Revenue service Chief Solomon Ighrakpata commended the Uvwie council chairman for his foresight and for executing meaningful projects that have touched the lives of the people of Uvwie local government.

He stated further that changing the name airport road to Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori way is another way to thank the state Governor for his numerous projects attracted to uvwie local government area.
He advised the people of Uvwie to support the reelection bid of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori come 2027.

The vice chairman,Mr Andrew Agagbo, President General of Uvwie general improvement union
Chief Hope Erute, the leader of Uvwie Legislative arm, Hon. Urueshyi Rire Okejera amongst others commended the Uvwie council chairman Chief Anthony Ofoni for the initiative.
They noted that immortalizing Governor Sheriff Oborevwori through the renaming of former airport road to Rt hon Sheriff Oborevwori is a welcome development

They encouraged commuters to adopt Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori Way as the official landmark for the area.
