The Executive Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government, Hon. Pastor Jude Chukwunwike, has reaffirmed a commitment to responsive and people-centered governance by promising ongoing Christmas support for council staff and residents during the 2025 yuletide celebrations.
Chukwunwike gave the assurance during Harvest Thanksgiving Service held at the Council Secretariat in Ogwashi Uku.
Chukwunwike who was represented by Mr. Caleb Chiedu Ngele expressed deep gratitude for the preservation of lives and the gradual restoration of peace in the community, especially after recent security challenges that caused widespread anxiety.
Chukwunwike commended the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders, including traditional rulers, community leaders, student bodies, market women, security agencies, and households throughout Aniocha South.
He particularly recognized the informal sector for its role in promoting stability and development in the area.
“The festive season should deepen love, humanity, and meaningful conversations that promote unity and sustainable development,” he stated, assuring residents that his administration would proactively fulfill its social responsibilities by providing essential items such as rice, chicken, and other necessities to help families celebrate the season with dignity.
“No responsive government will abdicate its responsibilities during the yuletide season. We will increase our efforts to ensure our people feel the impact of governance,” he added.
Furthermore, Hon. Chukwunwike called on parents, churches, and community leaders to caution children and youths against the use of explosive canisters, commonly known as knockouts.
He warned that these could pose serious security risks and be exploited for destructive purposes during the festive period.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritizing peace, security, and the welfare of the people, fostering an atmosphere of inclusive governance, collective responsibility, and sustainable development in Aniocha South Local Government Area.
