African Democratic Congress Governorship Candidate, ADC Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, on Friday, June 12, 2026, made his first entry into Delta State after emerging as the party’s flag bearer for the 2027 election.
The ‘Peoples General’ was received at Osubi Airport by thousands of supporters drawn from the 25 local government council areas in what observers described as an “organic crowd”.
Addressing the crowd shortly after arrival, Ogboru thanked long-time loyalists and new supporters for standing by him through years of political battles.

He framed the 2027 contest in Delta as a three-way race between APC, ADC and NDC, but insisted that only ADC had the capacity to deliver.“With ADC there is hope in the country and in Delta State”He added.
The party will correct the mistakes of the past,” Ogboru said. “ADC has come, and will deliver the dividends of democracy, good governance, decency, integrity, accountability, and responsibility.”
He dismissed rumors that he was working for the ruling party in the state.
Recalling past legal battles against former governors James Ibori, Emmanuel Uduaghan and Ifeanyi Okowa, Ogboru insisted his record proved he had never taken money from any administration.
“How much will they give me ,I have been a rich man since 50 years back . I laugh when I hear that people says I collect money from the sitting governor’s” he stated .
On elections and vote buying, the ADC candidate expressed hope that BVAS and increased voter awareness would check electoral fraud in 2027.
Looking ahead, Ogboru said ADC would articulate its positions clearly and avoid “word trading” during campaigns.
He emphasized grassroots development, arguing that local governments should function as “development centers” with more resources directed to human infrastructure such as food, health and livelihoods.
State ADC Chairman, Hon. George Timinimi, and other party chieftains were present at the reception.
Timinimi urged Deltans to support the party ahead of 2027.
Security operatives managed traffic as the crowd celebrated Ogboru’s return.
