Anieken Wins maiden edition of JADA Tennis Tournament in Warri

The maiden edition of JADA Tennis Tournament (JTT) was held in Ogunu Golf Resort in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State during the weekend.

The tournament which featured two categories of male and female participants was proudly sponsored by Dr. Charles Ukeagu.

Our Correspondent Reports that Mr. Umoren Anieken emerged winner of the tournament

The participants were medically screened before the competition was formally declared opened by Mrs. Oby Ukeagu,wife of the sponsor .

The sponsor of the maiden edition of JADA Tennis, Dr Charles Ukeagu said he decided to sponsor the tournament to make the game of tennis more interesting and to bring more people into the game of tennis in the area.

Dr Ukeagu said that he was happy to be the sole sponsor of the tournament, adding that he believes in unity, charity, love and celebrating good things together.
Ukeagu commended the elders in the game, the medical team, the captains of various clubs for their efforts and contributions to the success of the 2024 edition.

He said the tournament was his own way to give back to the society and basically to make people interested in the game of tennis and to groom talents for tennis competition.

Captain Benjamin Ifeta of Ogunu Golf Resort Warri Tennis Section thanked the sponsor for providing all that it takes to organize a standard competition .

The keenly contested competition featured various participants from Warri Club, PTI Club, DSC Club, Ughelli Club, Shell Club ( Ogunu Golf Resort) and 3 Battalion Army Barracks Effurun.

The participants exhibited great talents and endured several hours the competition lasted for winners to emerge in the various categories.

The first edition of the JADA Tennis Tournament ended on a good note as male first category with first winner Mr. Umoren Spenser Anieken goes home with a fridge, 2nd with sound system and 3rd with microwave.

The female category with the winner Precious Ahwin goes home with washing machine, 2nd gas cooker and the 3rd with Air fryer and other awards and conciliation prizes of electric kettle,toaster among others.

The participants said they are looking forward to the second edition of JADA tennis tournament and commended Dr Charles Ukeagu for organizing the competition .
