The Rotary Club of Ogunu, District 9141, has Donated School Desks and Writing Boards to Yonwuren College and Ugbuwangue Secondary School in Ugbuwangue , Warri South local Government Area of Delta State, emphasizing the importance of child mentorship and community service.

The President of Rotary Club of Ogunu , Rtn Osamuyi Omokha
said the gestures are part of efforts geared towards meeting one of Rotary International seven areas of focus which is Basic Education and literacy.
According to Rotarian Omokha the initiative is Borne out of the desire to encourage Education while making learning a pleasurable experience for the students.
Rotarian Omokha flanked by other Rotarians including the incoming President, Rotarian Austin Edon, Rotarians Moses Danlami, Ayodele Enikanselu, Daniel Oji,Peter Dogumbe, Festus Ohanu, Felator Martins amongst others added that leadership must be taught at the grassroot to ensure credible leaders are built for social and economic growth, hence, the club deemed it worthy to introduce Interact club at the school to ensure Rotary presence is felt amongst the students and staff of the school.

It is the club’s way of connecting with the new generation to mentor and teach true and empathic leaders who will make the world a better place.
They noted that the Rotary club of Ogunu has continued to stay true to the mandate of Rotary International revealing its projects and programmes are all targeted at meeting the core needs of the people, providing quality water, environmental protection, supporting the local economy as well as promoting a world of peace and global understanding.

The highlight of the occasion was the formal handing over of the school desks and boards to the benefitting schools as well as the Inauguration of members to the chartered Interact club of Ugbuwangue Secondary School .
