HRM Dr Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso( JP )OON Abe 1 the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom has Inaugurated a 16 man committee for the building of a permanent site for the Effurun Police Area Command, Effurun Uvwie Local Government Area.
The inauguration took place at the palace of the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, Government Reservation Area (GRA) Effurun on Thursday 19th March, 2026.
The Uvwie monarch in his speech shortly before the Inauguration, recalled that on ascension to the throne, one of his priorities was security and therefore expressed optimism that the establishment of an Effurun Police Area Command would boost security in the area, moreso with the growing population of people in the area.
The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom in his thoughts provoking speech, stressed that no meaningful development can take place in the absence of peace and therefore thanked God that Uvwie is relatively peaceful than it used to , prior to his ascension to the throne. He emphasized that the establishment of a Police Area Command in Effurun is a dream come true and that this will attract more meaningful development to the area.
Abe 1 stated that the ground breaking of the project is Thursday 30th April, 2026 just as he charged the committee to be up and doing in order to ensure the actualization of the project in no distance time.
He had earlier appreciated the Uvwie Local Government Council, DESOPADEC , Chief Solomon Okporua Ighrakpata and other stakeholders for providing a temporary site for the take off for the Effurun Police Area Command in Ekpan.
The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom had also appreciated the Federal Government for the approval of the establishment of a Police Area Command in the area which he said is not only beneficial to Uvwie people but to Nigerians at large.
The Chairman of the committee, High Chief Henry Erumedji in his acceptance speech, on behalf of other members of the committee ,thanked the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom for their appointments noting that it is an honour and privilege to serve in the committee. Erumedji also hailed the traditional ruler for his choice of members of the committee as he noted that they are credible personalities.
Erumedji who doubles as the Unuevworo ( traditional mouth piece ) of Etche R’ Ovwori ( traditional administrative unit) in Uvwie Kingdom, also applauded and appreciated the royal father of Uvwie Kingdom for always going out of his busy schedule to implement policies that will bring peace, unity and progress to the Uvwie people , Delta State and Nigeria at large.
Erumedji assured that by the grace of God , the committee will complete its assignment in a recorded time.
