The Executive Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government Council, Hon. Pastor Jude Chukwunwike, has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to promoting a clean, safe, and healthy environment for all residents of the council area.

Speaking through the Supervisory Councillor for Environment, Hon. Chukwunwike emphasized that good health begins with a clean environment and proper personal hygiene.

He maintained that the culture of cleanliness and environmental discipline must be upheld as a way of life, not just as a periodic activity. According to him, maintaining clean surroundings, proper waste disposal, and regular clearing of bushy areas remain essential preventive measures against communicable diseases.

“A clean environment is a healthy environment, and a healthy environment produces a productive people,” the Chairman stated, commending the increasing level of compliance across the communities. “Our goal is to make environmental sanitation an enduring lifestyle among our people.”

Hon. Chukwunwike further urged residents to take ownership of their environment, stressing that environmental sustainability requires collective responsibility.

Supporting the Chairman’s call, the Chairperson of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Aniocha South Chapter, Mrs. Mercy Okocha, who led a youth delegation to participate in the cleanup exercise, applauded the proactive stance of the council leadership. She lauded the synergy between stakeholders, the Environmental Department, security agencies, and volunteers in ensuring the success of the exercise.

Mrs. Okocha noted that since assuming office, Hon. Chukwunwike’s administration has remained consistent in driving initiatives aimed at achieving a cleaner, safer, and healthier Aniocha South, reflecting his belief that environmental sanitation is central to public health and community well-being.

Present at the exercise were the Vice Chairman, Hon.Hon Patricia Ekwutozam Adolue ; Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon Leonard Nzemeke ; Secretary to the Council, Hon. Prince Tony K Ebube ; and other political appointees. Also in attendance were officials of the Environmental Department, headed by Mrs. Ngozi Enubuzor, members of the Vigilante Group, law enforcement agents, and the Mobile Magistrate Court, which conducted on-the-spot trials for sanitation defaulters in accordance with environmental laws.

The exercise, which recorded impressive participation from residents and youth groups, further reaffirms Hon. Pastor Jude Chukwunwike’s vision of building a health-conscious and environmentally responsible Aniocha South, where cleanliness is not just a duty but a shared value.
