A fatal accident claimed the lives of three female passengers and injured three others in a commercial transport ( kpelegbe ) bus along the ever busy Warri/ Effurun Express Way by Army Barracks, Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area in the early hours of Saturday 7th June, 2025 .
Two out of the injured passengers were reported to be responding positively to treatment while the condition of one of them was in critical condition at the Central Hospital, Warri at the time of filing this report.
Initial report had it that the three dead passengers in the ill-fated vehicle were hawkers of agbo ( liquid herbal medicine) .
The ghastly accident according to an eye witness was allegedly caused by an over speedy private japanese made car driver who ran over two speed breakers on the said spot and hit the Warri bound commercial bus consequently causing the commercial bus to rammed into a heavy duty trailer from behind killing the three passengers in the bus on the spot and injured the other three in the process.
The driver of the commercial bus , who goes by the name, Elisha was said to have sustained serious wounds and receiving treatment at the hospital in Warri at the time of filing this report.
The private car was said to be damage beyond repairs but its driver was said to have survived the accident unhurt but he was however said to be arrested by the police.
It was also gathered that the remains of the dead passengers were deposited at mortuary of Warri Central Hospital while the injured were receiving treatments at the Warri Central Hospital at the time of filing this report.
The Police Public Relations Officer ( PPRO), Delta State Police Command SP Bright Edafe confirmed the incident.
