In a solemn yet dignified gathering earlier today, the leadership of Aniocha South Local Government Area, under the able stewardship of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Pastor Jude Chukwunwike, honoured the life and legacy of one of the council’s most distinguished sons — Chief Christopher Nwafor Afamefune Mordi, a former council chairman whose impact and leadership continue to resonate deeply within the community.
The valedictory session, held in honour of the late statesman at the council’s legislative building, drew the presence of top government officials, council functionaries, and members of the larger Aniocha South community. Representing the Executive Chairman at the event was the Vice Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Patricia Adolue, who stood alongside the Legislative Leader, Hon. Leonard Nzemeke, secretary of the local government council,Hon.prince Tony Ebube, councilors, and other dignitaries.
In his heartfelt message, Hon. Pastor Jude Chukwunwike described Chief Mordi as “a gentleman of distinction, an advocate for progress, and a man of integrity — the kind of leader our 21st-century society desperately needs.” He extolled the late council boss for his selfless service, moral uprightness, and unwavering commitment to the development of Aniocha South.
Addressing the bereaved family, especially the children, Pastor Chukwunwike encouraged them to uphold their father’s shining legacy. “Your father lived an exemplary life — one rooted in honesty, service, and compassion. As his children, I urge you to walk in those noble footsteps and continue to be worthy ambassadors of the remarkable name he has left behind.”
A poignant highlight of the ceremony was the collective prayer offered for the peaceful repose of Chief Mordi’s soul, as the community united in faith to bid farewell to a man whose life was marked by purpose and goodwill.
As Aniocha South mourns this irreparable loss, the spirit of Chief Christopher Nwafor Afamefune Mordi lives on — not just in memory, but in the values he stood for and the countless lives he touched.
May his soul find eternal rest.
