The Executive Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government , Hon. Pastor Jude Chukwunwike has restated his administration’s unwavering commitment to needs-driven governance, assuring that every developmental intervention will continue to reflect the priorities identified in the comprehensive Needs Assessment Report of the council’s communities.
Chukwunwike gave the assurance in Ogwashi-Uku on Friday September 26, 2025 while receiving members of the Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government Council Affairs, led by its chairman, Hon. Chief Chukwudi Dafe, during an oversight visit to the council headquarters.
Pastor Chukwunwike, who was accompanied by the Vice Chairman, Hon Patricia Ekwutozam Adolue ; Secretary of the Local Government, Hon. Prince Tony K Ebube ; Head of Personnel Management (HPM), Mr. Austin Akaeze; the treasurer of the council, Mr. Sunny Otighe, supervisory councillors and other political appointees, stressed that his administration’s projects are carefully aligned with the priorities of the people.
He added that his leadership style is anchored on inclusiveness, transparency, and accountability in line with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda in delivering meaningful development to the grassroots.
Commending the House Committee for embarking on a statewide assessment of council projects, Chukwunwike described the exercise as a strategic step to strengthen accountability and ensure that public resources are managed to deliver tangible results.
On his part, Hon. Chukwudi Dafe, who represents Ukwuani constituency in the Assembly, underscored the significance of the local government tier, describing it as “the closest government to the people.” He explained that the committee’s tour across Delta State was aimed at reconciling project delivery with accrued revenues, insisting that evidence-based infrastructure and prudent resource management remain the true benchmarks of good leadership.
Similarly, Hon. Oboro Preyor, a member of the committee, emphasized the need for strict adherence to the Public Procurement Law and the Fiscal Responsibility Act in the management of council funds. He noted that compliance with these legal frameworks is critical for ensuring fiscal prudence and achieving the objectives of grassroots governance.
The oversight team was conducted round some ongoing and completed projects in Aniocha South, including the 40 lock-up shops and interlocking of the central motor park with toilet facilities at Ogwashi-Uku’s Afor Market; the renovated General Hospital, Ubulu-Uku and supply of multi-million-naira medical equipment; as well as the newly completed Ubulu-Uku Divisional Police Station, built to bolster security in the area.
At the end of the tour, members of the committee, including Hon. Chief Ozoemenam Isaac Anwuzia , Ph.D., member representing Aniocha South in the state Assembly expressed satisfaction with the council’s performance in just one year and two months of Chukwunwike’s administration. They commended the projects as clear indicators of responsible governance and called on the chairman to sustain the tempo in alignment with the state government’s MORE Agenda and the Delta First development blueprint.
Other members of the Assembly Committee present were Hon. Alfred O. Martin, Deputy Chief Whip and member representing Warri North Constituency; Hon. Engr. Kenneth Oboro Preyor, member representing Bomadi Constituency; Hon. Chief Ferguson Onwo, representing Isoko South Constituency II; Hon. Chief James Ojaduvba Augoye , representing Okpe Constituency; and Hon. Chief Augustine Uroye, representing Warri South Constituency I. Officials from the Directorate of Local Government Affairs were also in present.
The committee members unanimously described Aniocha South’s developmental strides as a testimony to the transformative impacts of Governor Oborevwori’s administration at the grassroots level.
