The Executive Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government Council, Hon. Pastor Jude Chukwunwike , has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving learning conditions in public primary schools, declaring that the era of pupils sitting on bare floors is over.
He made this known during the presentation of dozens of plastic chairs and lockers to Obi Ezeamaka Primary School, Nsukwa—an intervention designed to promote comfort, dignity, and effective learning among pupils.
Represented by the Supervisory Councillor for Education, Comrade Victor Dike
the chairman stressed that quality education must be supported by a safe and conducive learning environment. He urged the school authorities to ensure proper use and maintenance of the facilities.
Chukwunwike further called on well-meaning individuals, corporate organisations, and alumni associations to complement government efforts by supporting the provision of critical school infrastructure across the local government area.
He noted that the intervention was prompted by concerns raised by the school’s headmaster, highlighting his administration’s responsiveness to grassroots needs.
“In line with the Child’s Rights Act, UNESCO goals, and the Sustainable Development Goals, education remains a top priority in our development blueprint. We must continue to give it the attention it deserves,” he said.
In his response, the Headmaster of the school, Mr. Okechukwu Nwabudike, expressed appreciation to the council chairman for the timely intervention, describing it as a clear demonstration of responsive and people-oriented leadership.
He commended the administration’s growing footprint in infrastructure development, noting that the strides recorded under Chukwunwike’s leadership represent a significant shift from the past.
Speaking with journalists, Nwabudike further described the chairman as a trailblazer whose leadership sets a strong benchmark for future leaders in Aniocha South.
The intervention forms part of the council’s broader strategy to strengthen basic education delivery, upgrade school infrastructure, and create a more enabling environment for teaching and learning across the area.
