…Says politics is a game of numbers, not superficial political permutations

Director General of Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has said that the State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is bubbling, growing bigger by the day, and will remain united under the leadership of the state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.

Dr Oghenesivbe, gave the assurance on Friday in Asaba, at the TREND FM Radio flagship public affairs live interactive program “TREND TALK,” pointing out that there are no “new” and “old” APC members in Delta State. He further stated that the party constitution recognizes full membership of individuals and the various structures without making reference to any dicotomy or status lacuna between old and new members.

On whether or not the absence of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege at the recent stakeholders meeting held at the State Banquet Hall Asaba, was an indication of a foreseeable faction within the party, Dr Oghenesivbe dismissed such assumptions, saying that Senator Agege recognizes Elder Omeni Sobotie as the one and only undisputed APC Delta Chairman, and that factionalization is not visible in the political radar, judging from the perceived bond of unity amongst party members in the state.

He assured that the party will remain united under the leadership of governor Sheriff Oborevwori, while urging party members and supporters to embrace one another, pointing out that there is nothing like “old” and “new” members in APC Delta, we are all members of APC with equal opportunities.

The Bureau Chief asserted that politics when viewed as a game of numbers, it connotes how numerical strength is used to frame issues and popularity ratings of political actors, and as a tool to influence public opinion, adding that the large number of political heavyweights coupled with the caliber of party stakeholders that were present at the State stakeholders meeting in Asaba, clearly revealed that APC Delta is one united and bubbling political family.

Dr Oghenesivbe assured that governor Oborevwori will never hold grudges against anybody, because he’s the father figure of the party in the state, coupled with the fact that a political party’s success often depends on quantitative factors like votes, demographics, and statistics, rather than on other goals like moral ideals or superficial political permutations, noting that APC Delta will continue to grow from strength to strength under the governor.

“There are no new and old APC members in our great party nationwide, and that includes Delta State. We became full members of the APC immediately after the open political movement in April this year, followed by online membership registration.

“The APC Delta structures and leadership we meant on ground are still intact, and fully operational from unit to state levels, while Elder Omeni Sobotie remain our party Chairman in Delta State.

“Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is the leader of APC Delta as the incumbent governor. This is the standard practice nationwide, and Delta is not an exception. He’s undisputably in charge of the party in the state.

“The governor leads, others follow, and that includes; the immediate past and former governors under the party, elected federal and state lawmakers, all political appointees of APC at the state and federal levels, former federal and state lawmakers, all serving and former counsellors, serving and former members of state party exco, and lastly, all members of the party and supporters across the three senatorial districts in Delta State.

“Senator Ovie Omo Agege is one of the stakeholders of APC Delta, and his absence at the last Stakeholders meeting in Asaba does not in any way suggest factionalization within the party, and it cannot be speculated as a sign of protest or non-alignment by the distinguished Senator (Omo-Agege).

“It’s too early in the day to read negative or bougus meaning to Senator Agege’s absence at the meeting. The senator shall speak as we navigate into the full-moon of electioneering activities. Let’s keep your fingers crossed.

“APC Delta is poised for electioneering victory in 2027, and the political vibes points to the fact that President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori shall coast to victory judging from their popularity and performance which had consistently resulted in their state wide endorsements,” Oghenesivbe assured.
