Public hearing on a bill for a law to repeal the rent control and recovery of residential premises law 1977 and establish the landlord and tenant law of Delta State 2025 and for other connected matters, has been scheduled for Tuesday 28th October 2025.
The bill was read the second time and consequently referred to the Joint Committee on Housing, Women Affairs, GirlChild Entrepreneur and Humanitarian Support Services, and Committee on Physical Planning and Urban Renewal for further legislative scrutiny.
A statement by the Chairman, Assembly Committee on Housing, Women Affairs, GirlChild Entrepreneur and Humanitarian Support Services, Hon Bridget Anyafulu, says the public hearing will hold at the Press Centre of the State Assembly Complex, beginning at 11am.

The statement welcomes contributions either written or oral from interested organizations, including Commissioners For Justice, Housing, Physical Planning And Urban Renewal and Information.
Others include the Chairman Board Of Trustee and President’s General Association Of Organized Realtors, Landlord Association, the Tenant Association as well as Stakeholders from The Public And Private Sectors
The statement adds that all memoranda should be enclosed in sealed envelopes addressed to the Chairman House Committee on Housing, Women Affairs and Girl Child Entrepreneur and Humanitarian Support Services, marked Delta State Repeal the Rent Control and Recovery of Residential Premises Law 1977 and establish the Landlord and Tenant Law of the Delta State 2025.
It urges those wishing to give oral testimony to contact the Committee Clerk, Mrs Esther Ezeocha-Ekwuaja, between the hours of 9am and 2pm, at the Delta State House of Assembly Complex, Okpanam Road, Asaba.
