The Executive Director of Social Services at the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief Favour Izoukumor, has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his prompt release of funds to the commission, as well as his provision of intervention funds that allow DESOPADEC to achieve its goals effectively.
Chief Favour Izoukumor made the statement during a media chat with members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) from the Delta Broadcasting Services (DBS), Warri Chapel.

During the discussion, Chief Izoukumor revealed that numerous youths from oil-bearing communities have been trained and empowered through the DESOPADEC Skills Academy.
He noted that mechanisms are in place to mentor these beneficiaries, aiding their transition into skilled workers.
In addition, thousands of women have benefited from various empowerment programs, while numerous students have received support through scholarship and bursary schemes.
Chief Izoukumor highlighted ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse among youths, mentioning the launch of multiple sensitization campaigns, including radio and television programs, aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of illicit drug use.
Chief Izoukumor praised the DESOPADEC Board Chairman, Chief John Nani, and Managing Director, Chief Festus Ochonogor, for fostering an enabling environment and demonstrating unwavering commitment to the commission’s objectives.
Nuj DBS Warri Chapel Chairman, Comrade John Glover, noted that the chat aimed to assess the activities of the Social Services office in DESOPADEC and discuss its plans for the upcoming year.
