….Charges Council Workers on Excellence, Professionalism and Citizens-Centred Service Delivery

The Senior Policy Adviser to the Delta State Governor on servicom and Labour Relations, Hon. (Chief) Funkekeme Solomon, has reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to building an efficient, transparent, and citizen-focused service culture across all tiers of government under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda.
Speaking during a SERVICOM sensitization exercise at the Aniocha South Local Government Secretariat, Ogwashi-Uku, Funkekeme reminded council workers that they are frontline representatives of government and must deliver services that inspire public trust.
He stressed that the ultimate purpose of governance is to “create happiness through acceptable, timely and quality service,” urging workers to uphold professionalism, respect service timelines, and add value to their daily responsibilities.
Accompanied by Mrs E.P. Onwusanya, Director and Functioning Permanent Secretary, and Barr. Ifeoma Azomani, Assistant Director, SERVICOM & Labour Relations, Funkekeme led robust discussions on modern service delivery standards and ethical conduct in public administration.
He cautioned that absenteeism, lateness and truancy remain major obstacles to productivity and institutional growth.
During an interactive session, council workers highlighted concerns about PFAs, the Contributory Health Insurance Scheme, and salary grade disparities. Funkekeme assured them that issues beyond the council’s control would be conveyed to the Governor and relevant authorities.
“I commend your resilience despite these challenges. Continue to give your best as government works on the feedback provided,” he said.
The Executive Chairman,Hon.pastor Jude Chukwunwike , represented by Hon Patricia Ekwutozam Adolue , the Vice Chairman of the council, applauded SERVICOM team for the visit and praised Chief Funkekeme for his dedication to workers’ welfare.
The Council Secretary, Hon. Prince Tony Ebube, also emphasized the need for sustained collaboration between workers and government to improve service outcomes.
In a closing remark, Mr. Austin Akaeze, HPM, called on the State Governent to initiate plans to fill in critical manpower gaps to strengthen the council’s workforce.
Others present included Comrade Austin Unorchei (Supervisory Councillor for Health), Mr. Sunny Otighe (Treasurer), Mr. Obi Olise (Head of Education), Mr. Augustine Eboji (NULGE Chairman), Comrade Victor Anaziah (Head of Budget, Research & Planning), as well as council staff, community stakeholders and the media team.
