Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt in affiliation with College of Education, Warri held its first matriculation ceremony of undergraduate degree programme in College of Education (COE) Warri at the weekend.
In his keynote address, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Okechukwu Onuchukwu who was ably represented by the Provost of College of Education Warri, Dr Dickson Onovwakpoma Oyovwi ( JP ) stated that the matriculants are privileged to be the pioneer set of the noble partnership with the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt in affiliation with College of Education, Warri .
He gladly informed the matriculants that the College of Education Warri Community has grown tremendously in terms of infrastructure and manpower.
” We have the best crop of staff that meets international standards.
” We have accommodation on campus and security for all students is guaranteed.
” I wish to add here that all rights and privileges enjoyed by students of the mother campus, you will enjoy. “Graduates from this campus will participate in the National Youth Service Corps ( NYSC ) Scheme . ” he added.

Dr Oyovwi however warned that the College has zero tolerance for anti – social behaviors such as fighting, impersonation, stealing, hooliganism, exam malpractice, cultism among others and that students indulgence in any of these vices will lead to dire consequences like suspension and outright explosion from the programmes .
The Provost of College of Education also appreciated the Programme Director , Dr Samuel Jimoh Eshenake ( JP) and other staff of the IAUE unit in the College for their tireless efforts in making sure that the programmes succeed in the College.
Oyovwi further appreciated parents and guardians for their efforts in the formation of the students.
In a media chat with our correspondent, the Programmes Director, Dr Samuel Jimoh Eshenake (JP) disclosed that ” We have 4 departments : Educational Management with options in Economics, Political Science, Social Studies, Religious Studies, English & Communication Arts.
” We also have a Department of Health and Safety, Primary Education Studies and Business Education. ”
Eshenake, while congratulating the matriculants, urged them to take advantage of the program, emphasizing that education has been brought to their doorstep.
