The people of Odion Community, the anscestral home of HRM Morris Oghenechuko Eyekpimi – Egboboyen Owhotemu 11 the Orosuen ( traditional ruler) of Okere Urhobo Kingdom in Warri Local Government Area have sent a Save Our Souls ( SOS ) message to Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori over an alleged unprovoked attacks from a family of a particular ethnic group in Warri.
This was contained in a statement issued by Chief John Eranvor and Chief Wilson Ogbodu (president general and secretary of Odion Community, Warri respectively) made available to newsmen at the weekend in Warri.
Chief Eranvor in the statement alleged that members of the particular family of the said the ethnic group who he said are maternally descendants of Eranvor of Ighogbadu of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, were behind the crisis.
The President General of Odion Community alleged also that the said persons who are paternally from the Udu Community of Igbogidi attempted to create a community in the area and that in the process destroyed properties and burnt a house belonging to Jerry Okolosi an indigene of Okere Urhobo Community of Odion and shot and injured another indigene of Odion Community, Abeki Olabrakopre who he said was still hospitalized at the time of filing this report. ‘Their attempt to burn our Ogwan ( meeting hall ) was unsuccessful’
The statement however further alleged that the 2nd coronation anniversary celebration banner of the Okere Urhobo monarch placed in Odion Community was destroyed by the said persons on the 6th of April, 2025 and that the incident was reported to the Police at ‘A’ Division and Police Warri Area Command who he said responded positively.
” We are using this medium to also appeal to the local, state and federal governments, including other relevant organizations to come to our aid by providing us with security to protect our lives and properties, including other meaningful support.” the statement added.
Odion Community stated that it will not allow a non existing community to be created in the area and that the said ethnic group should not vent its anger on the Federal Constituency Delineation on Odion Community.
The statement had earlier appreciated the various security agents in Warri for coming to the rescue of Odion Community during the alleged unprovoked attacks.
