The Queen of Uvwie kingdom , HRH Queen Patricia Sideso ,Nene R’Uvwie has advised Women in Urhobo Progress union ,UPU Women’s wing to remain united in order to meet the aims and objectives of the group
Nene R’Uvwie gave the advice when she played host to UPU women’s wing at the palace of the Ovie of Uvwie kingdom ,Uvwie local government area of Delta State.
Nene R’Uvwie while commending the women for the visit thanked their leader Osu R’Ewheye R’Urhobo Dame (Chief ) Rose Oghene and her executive for the good job they are doing to keep the group together.
She also thanked the group for making the palace of the Ovie of Uvwie as their first port of call and prayed that as they visit other queens God will grant them a safe trip and a successful visitation.
Nene R’Uvwie urged them to continue to remain united and promote the culture and heritage of Urhobo.
‘ I want to charge you all to continue to be good ambassadors of the Urhobo people and support the leaders of UPU world wide ‘She stated .
Earlier, the OSU R’Ewheye R’Urhobo Dame (Chief) Rose Oghene disclosed to Nene R’Uvwie that they will be visiting the various queens in Urhobo kingdom to introduce the group to them as well as acquit them with the role of the women in their kingdoms .
Chief Oghene informed the queen of Uvwie that they were not elected but nominated by the President General and all the kingdoms are represented in the executive and are to serve for 3 years .
She commended the President General of UPU worldwide Chief Ese Gam Owe for including two women in the Board of trustees.
The OSU R’Ewheye R’Urhobo appealed to Nene R’Uvwie to pray for the growth and unity of Urhobo land .
Chief Oghene revealed to the wife of the Ovie of Uvwie that the Uvwie chapter of UPU women’s wing was inaugurated 19 years ago and is still waxing strong .
