The President General of Uvwie General Improvement Union (UGIU) Chief Abovi Hope Erute has stated that Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori defected from the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) to the All Progressive Congress ( APC) because according to him the PDP was heading to destruction.
The Oviemo of Uvwie Kingdom who will be ascending the exalted traditional title of Isirerha of Etche R Alegbo ( traditional administrative unit) in Uvwie Kingdom on the 10th of May , 2025 stated this in an exclusive media chat with our correspondent at his residence in Effurun Uvwie Local Government Area at the weekend.

Erute who is also a member of Advisory And Peace Building Committee, Delta State liken the his former party, the PDP as a ship heading to the rocks and that passengers in such a ship who cherish their lives should have no option than to jump out the ship.
The highly esteemed Uvwie chief noted that the national leadership of PDP was in disarray and that the National Secretaryship was also an issue.
” This is what His Excellency Rt Hon Elder Sheriff Francis Oborevwori saw , that made him to defect to APC “. he added.
Erute however stated that those who still want to remain in PDP can do so ” but our Governor and us in Delta State will not crash with them.
We ( PDP faithful) sat down and deliberated over his decision and we were convinced that he ( Governor Oborevwori) took the right decision.
” That was why we all defected along with him to APC . Infact he should be commended for taking the right decision “he added .
