UVWIE, Delta State – His Royal Majesty Dr. Emmanuel Sideso JP OON Abe I, the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, has conferred chieftaincy titles on the executive chairman of Uvwie Local Government, Chief Anthony Ofoni, his wife Chief Maureen Ofoni, and thirty-five other distinguished individuals for their significant contributions to the development of Uvwie Kingdom.

Chief Anthony Ofoni was awarded the title of “Omorhofuvwie R’Uvwie,” while his wife received the title “Oro R’uvwie.” During the presentation ceremony, the Ovie commended the couple for their dedication and impactful initiatives aimed at fostering growth within the kingdom.
“You are Mr. Project,” the Ovie remarked, highlighting Chief Ofoni’s numerous successful initiatives since assuming the chairmanship, which include the completion of the Ekpan Modern Market (Phases 1 & 2), Ugboroke Modern Market and Warehouse (Phases 1 & 2), and the Iteregbi Ultra-Modern Cottage Hospital. Ongoing projects, such as the Atata Ultra-Modern Market, were also noted, alongside critical community support efforts like the procurement of transformers for Ohorhe 1 Community, the purchase of a NULGE Sienna Bus, and the perimeter fencing of Effurun Market.
The Ovie further encouraged Chief Ofoni to continue attracting more developmental projects to enhance the Uvwie area.

In his response, Chief Anthony Ofoni, expressed gratitude to the Ovie of Uvwie for the honor, asserting that it would motivate them to pursue further development within Uvwie Local Government.

He also extended his appreciation to Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for his unwavering support, which has enabled the execution of various impactful projects in the kingdom.
Chief Ofoni was elected on July 13, 2024, and sworn into office on July 15, 2024, by Governor Oborevwori in Asaba, marking a new chapter of leadership committed to the advancement of Uvwie Kingdom.
