The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Delta State Chapter, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Distinguished Senator Peter Onyeluka Nwaoboshi, who represented the Ibusa Community in the Oshimili North Local Government Area.
He passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025. The party extends its heartfelt condolences to the Nwaoboshi family, the constituents of the Delta North Senatorial District, as well as the government and people of Delta State.
In a poignant statement, On behalf of the PDP Delta family, Dr. Michael Tidi, Esq., Secretary of the Delta State Caretaker Committee, the PDP referenced the Roman poet Horace’s words, “Non omnis moriar” – “I shall not wholly die,” reflecting on how death may be inevitable, but the legacies of those who serve with courage and dedication endure. Senator Nwaoboshi’s life was a testament to this truth.
Beginning his public service career in 1979 as an aide to the then Military Governor of Bendel State, Brigadier-General Samuel Ogbemudia, Nwaoboshi later earned his LL.B and LL.M degrees. His distinguished career included roles as Political Adviser to Governor Ibori, Commissioner for Agriculture and Special Duties, and Chairman of the Nigerian Railway Corporation. He served as PDP Delta State Chairman, where he implemented pivotal reforms and built the party’s secretariat, ensuring discipline within the party. Senator Nwaoboshi was elected to the Senate for the Delta North Senatorial District from 2015 to 2023, where he played significant roles on committees, including the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs.
Known as a principled leader and a dedicated party man, Senator Nwaoboshi’s substantial contributions to Delta State and Nigeria’s political landscape have left an indelible mark.
According to the statement, PDPb expressed prayers for strength for Nwaoboshi’s family, urging that his virtues be rewarded and his soul granted eternal rest.
“Good night, Oracle. May your resourceful soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement concluded.
