…Says governor’s performance in key sectors leaves no room for opposition
Director General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has reaffirmed that the impactful governance record of Sheriff Oborevwori will strongly resonate with voters in the 2027 governorship election.
Speaking during a radio phone-in programme on Sunday, Oghenesivbe stated that the governor’s wide-ranging achievements across critical sectors may leave little room for viable opposition, given the administration’s visible footprint in all three senatorial districts and the 25 local government areas of Delta State.
He emphasized that under Governor Oborevwori’s leadership, rural and urban electrification has received a major boost, with ongoing strategic interventions that will expand access to stable power supply in phases across urban and rural communities, while improving economic activities in both riverine and upland areas.
According to him, this progress will significantly enhance small and medium-scale enterprises in the coming years and improve the living standards of people across the state. He added that the government is expanding social welfare services, positively impacting widows, women, and youth in meaningful ways.
In agriculture, Oghenesivbe highlighted the administration’s sustained investments in mechanized farming, youth empowerment in agribusiness, and support for farmers through inputs and extension services under the D-Care Programme and other empowerment initiatives. These efforts, he noted, are repositioning Delta as a key player in food security, while creating employment opportunities and stimulating rural development.
The Bureau Chief further pointed to notable progress in education, including the upgrading of school infrastructure, recruitment of qualified teachers, expansion of technical and vocational education programmes, and the establishment of additional university campuses aimed at equipping young people with quality education, practical knowledge, and employable skills as a foundation for long-term socio-economic growth.
On sports development, Oghenesivbe said the administration has revitalized sporting facilities, including the reconstruction of Warri Stadium into an international-standard sports arena, supported grassroots talent discovery, and sustained Delta’s dominance in national sporting competitions, thereby reinforcing its reputation as a powerhouse in Nigerian sports.
He also underscored the governor’s aggressive foreign direct investment (FDI) drive, which has attracted investors into key sectors such as agriculture, clean energy, transportation, oil and gas services, and infrastructure. These efforts, he explained, are opening up the state’s economy, creating jobs, and strengthening its internally generated revenue base.
Oghenesivbe noted that, for the first time in the state’s history, local government councils are increasingly focused on their constitutional responsibilities, delivering grassroots development with enhanced financial support from the state government, in addition to federal allocations.
He further commended the administration’s fiscal discipline and prudent management of resources, which, according to him, have earned the governor multiple national and regional recognitions. These accolades, he said, reflect the consistent delivery of tangible dividends of democracy in line with the governor’s 2023 campaign promises.
Highlighting ongoing infrastructure projects, he pointed to the near completion of major flyover bridges at DSC Roundabout, PTI Junction, and Enerhen Junction, as well as the Agbor and Otovwodo flyovers, describing them as transformative developments that will ease traffic congestion and boost urban mobility.
He assured that more landmark projects would be executed across major cities and riverine communities during the governor’s second term, expected to run until May 29, 2031.
Oghenesivbe also praised the governor’s leadership style, describing it as courageous, principled, and inclusive. He credited Oborevwori with strengthening political cohesion and fostering unity among stakeholders, while positioning Delta State as a significant force in national and regional politics.
He expressed confidence that both Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori will secure overwhelming victories in the 2027 presidential and governorship elections, citing their performance in office as a key factor.
Concluding, Oghenesivbe noted that his support for Governor Oborevwori goes beyond politics, revealing a longstanding personal relationship spanning over four decades.
He affirmed that this bond will endure irrespective of political dynamics, standing the test of time and circumstance.
