EKPAN – The Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council, Chief Anthony Ofoni, has called on the newly re-elected executive members of the Ekpan Development Committee (EDC) to sustain the hard-earned peace and security within the community.

Addressing a gathering of Elders, Youths, and Women at the Ekpan Town Hall, Uvwie local government council chairman, Chief Ofoni disclosed that the Delta State Government is pleased with the EDC’s performance during their first tenure.
He warned, however, that the state government maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of communal unrest.
“The Inuevworo has testified to your leadership’s role in establishing peace. Do not betray this trust,” Ofoni stated.

He further urged the Mr. Victory Nanakparo-led executive to embrace transparency and provide quarterly reports to the community leadership (Inuevworo ) to ensure inclusive governance.
The Uvwie council Boss said the EDC executive would be inaugurated in his office soon.
Supporting this stance, the Unuevworo of Ohorie Chief Samuel Eshenake and the Unuevworo of Orukpo, chief Victor Otomevwo and others stated that their re-election was a strategic move to prevent instability, particularly with the general elections approaching.
In his acceptance speech, EDC Chairman Mr. Victory Nanakparo thanked the community for the three-year mandate extension. “We pledge to surpass our previous achievements,” Nanakparo said, while calling for mutual forgiveness among community members to foster a new era of development.
