Delta State Governor,Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has commended the Management of TANTITA Security Services Nigeria Limited, TSSNL led by High Chief Oweizide Government Ekpemupolo Alias Tompolo for building National Open University of Nigeria Study Centre at the Okere correctional center Warri .
Governor Oborewvori was speaking during the inauguration of the Educational facility at the medium security custodial centre Warri, Built and furnished by Tantita security services Nigeria limited.
Governor Oborewvori during the Inauguration of the Educational facility at the medium security custodial centre Warri, Built and furnished by tantita security services Nigeria limited restated the state government commitment in collaborating with the private sectors in building a more inclusive, rehabilitative and progressive society.
Governor Oborewvori represented by the commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari noted that Beyond Tantita critical role in safeguarding strategic national assets, they have demonstrated that true security is not only about protecting pipelines and infrastructure but also about investing in people.
He noted that the project is not just a building,but a beacon of hope and testament to second chances and a tangible contribution to the rehabilitation and reintegration of fellow citizens.
Governor Oborewvori stated that Education remains the most powerful tool for transformation,stressing that Within the correctional facilities, it is not merely an academic exercise but a lifeline.
The state Governor revealed that he has deliberately prioritized improvements in correctional services across the State, recognizing that justice is incomplete without genuine reformation and restoration.
To the inmates Governor Oborewvori informed them that they are lucky to get such an opportunity to further study,adding that education is their passport to freedom.
For his part ,the Managing Director, TANTITA Security Services Nigeria Limited, TSSNL, High Chief Kestin Pondi said security is not only about protecting assets and territories, but “also about investing in human lives, rebuilding destinies, and shaping a better future for our society”.
He said the Inauguration of the Warri Medium Security Custodial Centre 2-storey building is dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and learning, charging the inmates to take their studies seriously at the commencement of the centre .
High Chief Pondi disclosed that the modern furnished building has eight classrooms, an administrative office, water-system toilet , a borehole and a solar-powered inverter system.
He added that the project is also consistent with Tantita’s wider commitment to community development across Nigeria.
High Chief Pondi stated that the Study Centre, will give both inmates and staff access to a qualitative path to academic advancement and
appreciated the Nigerian Correctional Service Warri and the Headquarters in Abuja, for their cooperation and encouragement throughout
the execution of the project.
Earlier the Comptroller General, of Corrections,Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche also commendation Tantita for donation and equipping the NOUN Study Centre,Okere in Warri.
The Comptroller General who was represented by Assistant Comptroller of Prisons, Kingsley Njoku said the study centre is central to the collective enhancement and reintegration of inmates into the society.
The Comptroller General stated that the inauguration of the block of classrooms in the Warri custodial Centre will further add to the number of custodial centres having National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN Study Centre .
He assured the Management of TANTITA Security Services Nigeria Limited that the block of classrooms will be effectively used for the singular purpose with a promise that in the next three years they will hear the success story of the graduates.
