The atmosphere at Abuedo Primary School, Ubulu Uku, crackled with excitement as football took centre stage in a pulsating Easter Sunday finale of the Ubulu Uku Female Unity Football Cup 2026.

The Executive Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government Council, Hon Pastor Jude Chukwunwike , used the occasion to challenge youths to turn their passion for sports into opportunity, urging them to see football not just as a game, but as a pathway to job creation, discipline, and total wellbeing.
Accompanied by members of his cabinet and supervisory councillors, the council boss witnessed a fiercely contested final between Udo FC and the eventual champions, Idumubo /Akpama, in a match that delivered skill, intensity, and moments of brilliance worthy of a grand finale.
The tournament, proudly sponsored by Chief Eshulu -Fulueze I of Ubulu Uku, featured eleven quarters battling through a series of fixtures, all converging into a dramatic climax that showcased the growing strength of female football in the community.
From kickoff to the final whistle, Idumubo /Akpama stamped their authority on the game. Miss Uzor Uju emerged as the star of the day, calmly converting from the penalty spot before sealing victory with a clinical hat trick that left spectators in awe and the opposition chasing shadows.

The 2–0 scoreline told only part of the story, as her performance lit up the pitch with confidence and precision.
Speaking after the match, Chukwunwike applauded the players for their courage, teamwork, and technical quality, describing their display as a clear signal of the untapped potential within grassroots sports.
He also commended the sponsor, the local organizing committee, and match officials for delivering a well coordinated tournament, noting that such initiatives are vital in nurturing talent and promoting unity.
In a tone reminiscent of a seasoned match analyst, the Chairman emphasized that communities across Nigeria have produced global stars through football, encouraging the girls to stay committed, disciplined, and focused on growth both on and off the pitch.
The high point of the day came as medals were presented and the coveted trophy lifted by Idumubo/ Akpama, a moment that crowned their resilience, teamwork, and championship spirit.

As the final whistle echoed across Ubulu Uku, one message rang clear: the future of football is not only bright but boldly female, and with the right support, these rising stars are ready for the bigger stage.
