College of Education Warri Announces 20th Convocation Ceremony

The 20th Convocation ceremony of College of Education Warri will hold on Saturday May 13,2023 .

The provost of the institution Dr Dickson Oyovwi made the disclosure while Briefing Newsmen on Thursday at the college of Education Academic Board Room .

 

Dr Dickson Oyovwi said the 20th Convocation ceremony covers 2011/2012 academic session to 2021 /2022 academic session .

Dr Oyovwi added that a total number of 2,428 granduants would be Convocating on Saturday May 13,2023 ,adding that among them 10 granduants have distinction , 522 got credit , 1,534 got merits while 180 graduated with pass .

 

The provost also said the Gala and Award ceremony will hold on Friday  May 12,2023 

The provost of College of Education Warri Dr Oyovwi thanked Delta State Governor , Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for appointing him as the provost of the institution and for attracting Development to the institution .

He also commended the state Governor for re-engaging 99 staff of the college who were relieved of their duties in 2015 for alleged fraudulent employment .

On staff welfare , Dr Oyovwi said the college management has not failed in paying salaries and honorariums to staff as at when due , adding that staff development programmes and institution based research sponsored by Tetfund are on course without hitches .

He further disclosed that the management has attracted some projects including renovation of one storey building block of classrooms , sponsored by Tetfund , completed and furnished , ongoing 2 storey building for classroom and offices sponsored by Tetfund amongst others .

He thanked the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC and Delta State Government for responding to the college when a heavy rainstorm destroyed the college walkways and the roofs of some buildings .

The provost of the college of education Dr Oyovwi urged Delta State Government and other interventionist agencies to assist the college in completing abandoned DESOPADEC main Administrative building and landscaping of the institution to prevent flooding and providing a facelift for the college .

Dr Oyovwi disclosed that the institution is affiliated with Delta State University Abraka and the university of Benin for the running if Degree and post graduate programmes.

He added that college of education Warri is also affiliated with Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Rumuolumeni Port Harcourt for Masters Degree in Education , stressing that the first set of students are preparing for the 2nd semester examination .
